David E. "Gene" Wiggins is an artist residing in Newnan, Georgia.  He grew up in a small town in North Florida that was known for its lakes and farms.  His love of small towns and rustic landscapes has been an inspiration for his art.  Gene's love for art started at a very early age.  He was a self-taught artist until his first formal art training in college.

After high school Gene graduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in Art Education.  He later went on to receive an MFA in Art Education from Georgia State University.
He taught public high school art and private art lessons for over 15 years in South Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia.  He has also taught adult art classes for Clayton State University and for the recreational department in Atlanta, Georgia.  During this time he pursued his craft by taking oil painting classes at the Atlanta College of Art  and private lessons with Atlanta artist and painter Kristopher Meadows. Most recently Gene has furthered his exposure to artistic styles by participating in a painting workshop with New York portrait artist Marvin Mattelson.

Although Gene's paintings are realistic in subject matter, his style would be considered more of the impressionistic style of painting.  Gene has worked many years in ceramic art, but in the past seven years he has concentrated his talent and energy on oil painting.
